MR Smith Group (MSG) is a guitar-based rock project built on raw energy, dark humor, and honest, unpolished character. Blending alt-rock, hard rock, garage spirit, and heavier influences, MSG embraces the realness of imperfect takes and spontaneous song development. Inspired by artists such as Frank Zappa, Tenacious D, Flight of the Conchords, Blue Öyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Talking Heads, Metallica, Tool, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and System of a Down, the project moves freely between absurd storytelling, personal experience, satire, and blunt statements of independence. Songs like “The Forgotten Word” and “Drinkin Beers and Eatin Mice” reflect both serious conviction and strange true-life humor.
